There was the Hurdler II NuBus parallel port card.
Full length NuBus cards fit a IIsi when used with
the PDS to NuBus adapter and a half height hard drive.

'Course you'd have to write custom software for the
Hurdler, if you can find one. Another possibility is
a PowerPrint MacSerial to PC Parallel printer cable.
That would require some reverse engineering of how
their version of the cable works. I've heard of some
other serial to parallel cables for Mac.

Yet another item with potential is the SCSI to sorta
parallel adaptor used to connect the first generation
HP flatbed scanners to a Mac. The ScanJet and ScanJet
Plus. ScanJet went up to 16 levels of grey, the
Plus went up to 256 levels. Both were very fast
scanners. For the PC, there were originally seperate
ISA interface cards for each of the two ScanJet
models. Later a run of interface cards were made to
work with both models. I called the interface sorta
parallel because it was based on the LPT standard but
enhanced by HP to support the bi-directional
data communication. I've seen these scanners from
time to time on eBay with their Macintosh adaptors.
The big problem is the software! To run the one I
had (used on a 486 with WFWG3.11 and a mono inkjet
as a photocopier) I had to download the software
from the HP website in Korea. Fortunately the
software was in English. ;) HP USA wanted $35 for
the software!

Really chaps my arse when a company, especially an
American company, figures everyone _except_ Americans
should be able to download their obsolete drivers for
free! If they're going to provide it free, in English,
to Korea, then by [EMAIL PROTECTED] it ought to be free for anyone
who needs it. :P
