I've done some research into doing the same using a Q700 case, which is essentially the same thing. My requirements were a motherboard that supported a processor daughtercard, which I figured would give me the greatest number of processor upgrade options. I'm still looking, but have yet to find a good motherboard that wouldn't require very, very serious hacking to my Q700 case. Every board I find is either simply too large, or when it does fit, some major slot (processor, PCI riser, etc...) sits right under where the power supply would go. If I were more electronically handy, I could maybe build some custom connectors and cabling to reroute these slots to another location, but I'm not. The cop out method would be to just make the power supply completely external to the case, but I want to explore other options before resorting to that.
I think I need to give up on the idea of a PCI motherboard with a processor daughtercard, and start looking at some PCI 603 based machines perhaps - maybe one of the PowerComputing clones with the low profile desktop case. Once I get some answers, I'll let you know. Good luck! Keep us informed of your progress. -dustin On Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 09:34 PM, Bob Johnson wrote: > A while back someone posted here about a IIci that had been modified > with a 7100 motherboard.
