Having owned and maintained both of these printers, AND having worked in an office where we had many of both, I can say the following:
The IW2 is slightly quieter. In draft mode it is substantially faster, but the print is much worse. At least in text mode - with the Mac's graphics modes, it is different. The IW2 is also very prone to paper jams and misfeeds compared to the IW1, which was built like a tank and about the most reliable printer I've EVER owned. Most folks in the office who had an IW2 wished they were downgraded to an IW1. Mailing labels are particularly prone to "unstick" themselves from their backing when you roll them backwards to align the "next" sticker with the "next" print job, and get stuck in the mechanism. The solution to such a situation, BTW, was to feed in a standard playing card, which would unstick things. -Warr (former Beagle Bros tech support) On Tue, 12 Aug 2003 15:30:44 -0400, Vintage Macs wrote: >> >>BTW Anyone know wether the imagewriter I and II are comparible in >>noise or is one of them a bit less noisier? Greeting, >>Marten > > >Although it won't be the same for all printers, my experience has >been that, >and I own several II's and two ones, that the ones are less noisy. > > >Jeff -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
