I asked about the oscillator that was fallen out as a possible source of the death of the card.
Going thru my Mac Nubus cards today, I found an LC Ethernet card with a 20Mhz. oscillator on it.
The original was 16.5 Mhz. Being an experimenter of the first water, I desocketed the original and plugged in the Nic's oscillator. After moving the jumper to the non-FPU 68040 setting, lo and behold! I now have a Performa 400 running with a Mobius LC Speedster 68040/40 Accelerator!!
