I wonder, was there such a thing as a factory CD with 7.5.5 or earlier? The earliest I've seen was 7.6 (which I can't get to run on the Mac II).

standard to place special boot code somewhere understood by the drive,
i.e. the boot code is separate from the files on the CD.
