I've given many Macintoshes away. The neat thing about Apple is that
they have released many of their OS's as PD. The problem with giving
old Macs away, is that you have to have something to put on them.
This takes time. Jag has compiled the best CD of freebies that I
have found. It takes time to do it right. I'm getting closed to
giving it up, for medical reasons. An arthritic back allows me to
pick up only a feather. I abuse that "doctor's order" a lot, but I
have lots of hydrocordone too. It usually takes a half tablet. No,
... I am not even close to Rush Limbaugh on this one. Oxycontin, I
hear, gives a high better the heroine and it is harder to get off of
them. So while you listen to him on the radio, wonder if he's on a
high. Those Macs came from a publishing house, so I bet they have
more than adequate memory, probably maxed out. Unfortunately, this
is a BIG problem when you get school Macs, because usually they were
purchased either with minimum ram or they were netted.
There is a lot fun giving away Macs, and the neatest is, that you get
to know the kids and you become heroes to the family. And ...
generally, the family realizes how important a good computer can be.
