Thanks Greg, I forgot to mention that the modem will be assuming it works is a 28.8 Supra. So it's going to be slow no matter what. But as long as Mom can do her email she will be happy.
When Mom first asked about doing email I said sure not a problem ;-) I'm a Mac Guy from way back, first one was an SE. I have to use PCs at work. ;-( I wanted to get her a Mac but figured that where she lived that it would be easier to get help with a PC. Turned out that most of the people there that have CPUs are computer challenged regarless of OS. I did buy her used PC & a matching one so I could help her. cost $900 total. 1st her monitor died, $300. Then her hard drive died. So I gave her my PC. Now her PC doesn't recognize the mouse. But the mouse works on the wife's PC laptop.
