AIM on vintage Macs?

I've got a pair of teens that use AIM on pc's to chat with their 
friends. This got me thinking that this would be a great application 
for a compact Mac - say an SE/30, or a Classic II.

Anybody know what OS you need to make this work? Also where to get 
older versions of the s/w? Predictably the web site only supports 
stupidly fast cpu's for what seems a simple task.
