Tests: #1 Do you need OS7.1?
I use it on a IIci. I don't miss all the "bells & whistles" of latter OS - it works quite well as is. I find that the need for more modern OS is driven mainly by the requirements of the application s/w you want to use. I wish more of the s/w I use was compatible with OS 6!
#3 Do you believe that the technically illegal aspects
of useing old abandoned ("not supported", "obsolete",
etc.) copies of protected software is wrong?
"technically illegal"? Do you mean that all the old s/w I have amassed at charity and surplus computer shops is illegal? Do you mean that if I bought an application (not an illegal copy), and some years latter the company decides to stop making it, I no longer have a legal right to use it? It must therefore be illegal to sell the stuff........
#4 Is there a reason not to open your special prize?
I always open them if I think they will be useful. I doubt that any of our cherished vintage equipment will become valuable antiques. I say use it or toss it. I love to get shrink-wrapped stuff 'cos it takes the guesswork out - read the manual!
