I just joined the system6 list, but my first post (below) got bounced (LIST module(list system6) reports:
account is full (quota exceeded)).

Is this list dead?

Subject: Hi! Anybody here?

This is my first sign-up for this list. Doesn't seem to be to much activity, so I thought I'd start some :-)

I think I have the fastest OS 6 compatible Mac (you will correct me if I'm wrong)!

I have a Mac IIci, with a 50Mhz DayStar 68030, and FPU. I've added a FWB JackHammer SCSI NuBus card, which is connected to a 68pin Seagate ST15150W 4Gb hard drive. These are big and hot, but it seems to run fine in the IIci HD spot. I think the air flow design on the IIci is excellent. I just have to work out how to hook up the led :-) The HD is partitioned into two and setup with an early version of FWB hard disk toolkit PE (I think it's 1.7). I have 8Mb of RAM.

The other two NuBus slots are taken by an Asante NIC (10bT only, sadly the 100bT version driver won't work with OS 6), and a Radius PrecisionColor 8-Xj. I think this video card is great - it only does 256 colors, but it goes up to 1152 x 882, and the "Quick Color" acceleration works with OS6! I run a 21" VGA monitor via one of those adapter dongles.

Being new to OS 6, I loaded 6.0.8. Now in my ignorance I'm wondering how I get my other Macs to "see" this one on the network i.e. serve files. Is this possible? What do I need?

What are suggestions for the best s/w to run on a six machine? In particular how can I make a slide show of photos (jpg)?

Also how do I handle a DHCP server (at work) with MacTCP?

John (I've been six'd)
