I have also read that I can get the most out of my machine if I add an
internal NUBUS video card, again, I might as well look out for "the top of
the range" card for my machine - so what card should I be looking for?
I should save this to my Notepad so that I can just paste it in every so often. :-)
Why not write up a web page?! :-)
Similar in performance was the E-Machines Futura II card. This came in SX, LX and MX varieties. Again, there was a Futura without the II and it should be avoided--actually many Futura's without the II. If you get the latest Futura II SX/DSP card there is a connector on board which can take an Ethernet daughter card. This will let you put video and ethernet in just one NuBus slot. However, the ethernet portion freezes the machine if Open Transport tries to load, so it's Classic networking only if you want the Ethernet daughter card. The video card by itself is fine.
I think I might have one of these.
I have a 7" NUBUS card with "E-MACHINES" written on the main chip. It also has the markings "COPYRIGHT 1993 MADE IN USA" It has two slots for daughter cards, one is horizontal, just above the NUBUS connector and the other is vertical towards the back of the card. The horizontal one seems to have more sockets on it than the horizontal one.
There is a "cut out" where it looks like an ethernet-type connector could have been on a different model of the card, but on this one its missing and the hole on the metal blanking plate is just covered up with a plastic insert.
Are there any tools for identifying graphics cards?
I would like to find out what that card is, and I also have another Apple card with no really significant markings on it either. The only thing that makes the Apple card stand out is the word Trident and a little ---E logo on the bottom of the card. It works, but I can't find anyway of identifying it in MacOS 7.5.3. TattleTool sees it, but doesn't say what it is.
Thanks,
Andrew McCall
