I figured that Macs show up in the movies and TV shows allot because they
look cool and artsy, which is what the characters are supposed to be. How
many shows have a hacker surrounded by lots of obsolete equipment with
flashing lights when a real hacker probably have a PC or 2 running a Linux
variant and a stack of mountain dew cans in the corner? Some shows go the
other way and show completely obsolete computers sitting on a desk probably
not even plugged in.

As far as all the software on the shelf, I cant even remember the last time
I actually got to hold the install media of the software on my machine at a
job, its all installed by IT and kept in a safe or something so that during
an audit they don't get stuffed.
