Not on a IIsi. The limit is 8 Mb and applies to machines without 32 bit clean ROMs like the IIcx, SE/30 and Mac II.
I sincerely hope you meant 6.x ;o)
No, 7.X. All machines are limited to 8Mb with OS 6 (unless you use third party software to go to 14Mb).
I didn't even know System 6 would run on a 32-bit clean ROM. Learn something new every day I guess...
Both the IIsi and IIci have 32 bit clean ROMs. The IIsi shipped with 6.0.7. I don't know which version the IIci shipped with but it was 6 or earlier. Both can run OS 6 or OS 7 (the later in 24 or 32 bit mode).
I did know it was limited to 8MB though because I used to run an SE/30 with 32MB of RAM in it in 6.0.8, with Mode 32.
System 6 can't use more than 16 Mb. I think there was a third party program to use additional memory as RAM Disk but not as main memory. Mode 32 is specifically for OS 7. It patched the various ROM routines to make them functionally 32 bit clean. OS 6 is not 32 bit capable, only 24 bit which limits it to 16Mb.
