you'll need version 3.x of the acrobat reader.  v 3.x actually didn't conform to the 
adobe
standard (even though they wrote it...) on the mac so documents written with v3.x 
software
have to be read with a v3.x reader to extract the fonts.  this is common with the older
pdf files from apple, some appear to work but show mostly empty space with newer 
versions
of the reader.  i always keep an alias for v3.x and v5.x or newer on my desktop so i 
can
read the old files and newer files.
