I recently bought a PowerBook 165c on eBay. It came with lots of extras, such as a StyleWriter. But, when I turn the StyleWriter on, I only get a small mechanical noise and the Error and Power lights flash at the same time.
I looked this up in the Service Manual, and it said that the cartridge is jammed. I got it free (with a lot of ink on my hands), and I'm still getting the same error.
Any ideas?

What I do is lightly lube the slider on which the cartridge runs. I look to see if ink is spilled
onto the rest-spot and surrounding, and I clean it with alcohol then I run a test in which
I move the cartridge frame back and forth a number of times by hand, start and hold the power button for twenty or so seconds and see if it attempts to print a page with the ink cartridge uninstalled.
If it gets that far you may have saved the printer. If it keeps jamming and erroring out
then it's a recyclable.
