On the matter of larger drives, I've been led to understand that a big drive will work, but that you'll have to partition it down to (I think) 2 gb per partition. From what I've read before System 7.5.3 won't care too much about the size of the drive, only the size of the partitions.
I agree about sticking to 7.5.3, btw. My LCIII runs plenty well enough for me to enjoy puttering with it when I have a few minutes. I'm still amazed at how good those vintage machines were.
