Hi Guys I'm having fits trying to get a HD into my Iici to replace the internal 80Mb Quantum that is having trouble spooling up.
I have a 6Gb LaCie drive from a System 8 Mac that I'm working with and having plenty of frustration trying to get a system loaded and running. I am trying 7.5 although I have also tried 7.1 and 7.6 with no more success. I have tried the LaCie disk tools to set up the HD and now I have tried the patched Apple HDSC Setup 7.5.3 toolkit & Superbooter but cannot seem to get the computer to load a system. The details are below, any suggestions please??!! Attempt to boot from internal HD, get floppy question mark Boot from Floppy with Superbooter on it. Machine starts from system on floppy Says disk unreadable by Mac do you want to initialize (unpartitioned space from previous attempt to partition) Go Quit & browse machine, sees partitions previously made Browse to HDSC Setup 7.5.3 patched & start Go Test Test Successful Initialize Drive - Successful Shut down for night Re-start from same floppy & accept suggestion to re-initialize Fails Run Patched Apple Setup 7.5.3 & update HD driver. Runs for a long time & locks up Cancel out of Program & re-start computer Re-run initialize, Runs OK Run HD Partition & create partitions <2Gb Shut down Re-start with OS 7.5 Floppy Disk 1 System doesn't find the HD Re-start with Disk Tools & it says the disk (actually a partition) is unreadable and wants to initialize it. Initialize, goes through each of my partitions with this process OK Shut down & re-start with Sys 7.5 again Accepts to install on one of the partitions Hangs up on disk 1 while giving message "Finishing Installation" Command-Option-Esc still hung. Hardware re-start 7.5 Install starts from floppy but on a different partition, doesn't see the one it previously tried to install on Hangs again! Note, previously got this far & had it barf (not hang) because it could not write to the disc or something of the like. So, any suggestions? What am I missing? Thanks Dave -- David A.
