Hey Allan,
Installing the LocalTalk bridge did the trick. The IIf is working perfectly. How do I share it with PCs that are on the same home network? Also, how can I get my IIci to see a Lexmark printer that's shared across the home network?
Thanks again!
Thomas

How are you physically connected to the IIf? Standard LocalTalk? PhoneNet? Have you verified that AppleTalk is on and that the right port is selected? Cable good? Have you tried switching the printer off and then back on?
Or are you trying to use EtherTalk (AppleTalk over Ethernet) instead? (Lots of folks do, so as to network with other machines on a LAN). Are you using a LocalTalk to Ethernet bridge to get the IIf online? If you're doing this, have you checked to make sure your AppleTalk connection is set to rely on Ethernet and not the Printer Port (LocalTalk)? It *will* default to Printer Port if you zap the PRAM or the parameter RAM settings get hosed in some fashion, including via low PRAM battery.
You mentioned having the PPC upgrade in your ci. If I remember correctly, it would not be terribly unusual for that to affect timing issues for LocalTalk. If you are using a standard LocalTalk or PhoneNet connection and sometimes it's there and sometimes your printer is missing in action, you might want to consider the Enet-to-LocalTalk bridge and putting an Ethernet card in (if you don't already have one).
Oh, and you can never have too many Macs. If you get a PM 7500 you can set it up as a file server that everything from modern Macs running Panther to System 6 Macs can mount on Desktop and access in common.

Question about the LW IIf again.
Ok, now my IIci is running 8.1 with a PPC upgrade. I've got Laser Writer 8 in my chooser, but when I click on it my IIf doesn't show up. It showed up just once and I was able to print like a half a sheet of a picture and a few little simple text things, but now it won't show up. I'm stumped. I've tried changing the number of the device and even the cords. Oddly, the little StyleWriter II works just fine when hooked up to the printer port. Also, the LW sort of half ass prints from my XP box. Any suggestions?
Oh one other question. Since I've become addicted to fiddling with these Macs, is it worth while to get another IIci to fiddle with or an SE/30 or even a power Mac 7500?
