I'd have to agree with others that MS Word peaked at 5.1 (on *any* platform). 
But on a vintage Mac I'd recommend WriteNow. I wrote my PhD thesis on it on a 
Mac SE years ago, and still use it under Classic mode on my current G3/G4 
machines. It just works!
