The thing you have is often called a "pass-through" terminator.

Its use depends on the device needs in the SCSI chain. Generally,
you would use a "passive" terminator on the last device in the
physical SCSI chain.

Older Macs, the Plus if I recall correctly, often needed a
pass-through terminator before the first device in the external
SCSI chain in addition to a terminator on the last device.

SCSI termination is one aspect of "SCSI Voo Doo."
