what i own; a load of old macs that i dont do anything with (im a linux/x86 geek not really a big fan of macs) but i do use a powerbook duo 280c (68040 -- 33mhz) that i use as a serial terminal and a bit of a tinker toy (poking around the internals with thinks like akua sweets [applescript extension] is fun)... in other words im not a mac fan but i use one simply coz its the only laptop i have that works that has a color screen...
why am i here?; the duolist didnt really supply what i wanted (was mainly hardware repairs)... so i came here looking for a 'general' 68k list... the software side of things... am i in the right place? first question; i need a (-free-) disk defragmenter in a bad way... ive read many sites that say macs dont need defragging but when i drag a file from one folder to another everything freezes for a few seconds (didnt do this when i first started using the machine).... many files have since passed through... some in pieces... many deleted... many moved... many edited many times.... (like i said.. tinker toy... much freeware has been played with)... anyway... need a defrag or some advice on how to get things speedy again... sorry about the quick/rambling email... busy... thx -- --sam http://mephitus.renamon.org/ "When you've done something right, no one will be sure you've done anything at all." -- Futurama -- -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
