You should be able to get one for free or practically nothing; however, shipping will run you $30-35. Get a IIfx if at all possible. The price will be the same but the machine is a big step upward.
Would the [HD] bracket from an LC III work?
If the platform over the RAM is in place and you're not going to be tossing the computer around, a bracket isn't essential. Be sure nothing can short out...no electrical parts can contact metal grounds. I've taped/"glued" many HD's in place on several models. :-(
...most of my disks are 1.4 MB, so an 800k drive won't be too much help ;-)
As Scott cautioned, without the upgrade chips (standard in the fx), you won't be able to use the double-sided, high-density drives which read and write 1.4MB floppies but you can format 1.4 floppies as 800k disks in the 800k drives.
