Apologies if this is off-topic.

My Dad's laserwriter died and I scored him a 12/600 PS via eBay and he swapped the LocalTalk and power cables from the old printer, fired up the computer and selected the LaserWriter icon in the Chooser, and it immediately recognized the new LaserWriter by type (Apple LaserWriter 12/600 PS) and name (some elementary school library printer #2 or some such thing) so AppleTalk is clearly configured properly etc etc.

He goes to print and as far as the computer is concerned it prints the document just fine, but the printer doesn't do anything. Doesn't pick up any paper, doesn't misfeed, doesn't print, doesn't jam...nothing. He says there's an orange status light under the icon that looks like a sheet of paper. No buttons on the printer except the on/off button. (I had him toggle that, no avail).

Even with background printing off, the computer doesn't spit any dialogs saying "out of paper" or "paper jam" or "unable to print for blah blah blah reason"...nothing. Thinks it went.

Anyone in a position to give me troubleshooting tips? Thanks.
