Wayne,

Look at that serial # real close, sometimes when they stamped them at
the faactory, the guy did not hold the number punch straight, and it
caused a number to be illegible. In your case, if the coach is a 64
Bambi II, it will be 17 ft and only 97 were built in 1964. This model,
went on to become the 1965, 17ft Caravel. The serial # sequence should
read, as follows:

(plant) (length in feet) (4=1964) (1,2, orS) and finally, (sequence
number) The number you sent,

41 S 1083
6401

Seems to have something missing. Check it again, and look very close
for an off center, "punch". The 6401, if below, on a second line,
could indicate Jan, 1964. There should be a 17 in there somewhere.
Maybe it is before the 41, and not legible.

Bill Scott
61 Bambi

Hi,

I looked at a Bambi II tonite here in SF. It's from the mid 60's. The
owner thought it was a 1964. I was interested as well the owner as to
the definitive answer.

I took a digital photo of the serial # plate and was now hoping that
Bill Scott could use the decoder ring to bring out the details
(manf. date, etc.)

On the plate it reads as follows:

41 S 1083
6401

any ideas?
