Ron,
You have copper tubing that had water which froze and expanded the tubing
size. I had the same problem. You can correct the problem by re-sizing
the tubing to 3/8" using the tube clamping part of a flare kit. Just clamp
the copper tube in the 3/8" hole and tighten. Loosen the clamp and rotate
the tubing 90 degrees and repeat. Keep checking the size and repeating the
clamping until your fittings fit.
