Jim,
I don't think that they just wear out from sitting or every 5 years for that
matter. My 1967 Caravel has the original factory installed Armstrong air
conditioning and it still blows ice cold. Now it may go out tomorrow but we
have put 7900 miles on the trailer in the past 14 months and it has worked
fine. When I purchased my trailer, it had been sitting for years and was in
overall terrible condition. Have somebody qualified to check your a/c...or
then again it may be another Suburban diesel for you!!!???? Good luck!
