Ray, "Super Beetle" was a marketing name used in the USA and some other markets for the VW Model 1302, which first appeared as a 1972 model here (and in Canada, I believe), and the 1303 that followed a bit later. In some markets, both versions continued to co-exist for many years; in the USA, the so-called "standard" beetle was later dropped -- when was it guys, in the 1973 model year?
The front suspensions were quite different.
