Ray,

"Super Beetle" was a marketing name used in the USA and some other markets
for the VW Model 1302, which first appeared as a 1972 model here (and in
Canada, I believe), and the 1303 that followed a bit later.  In some
markets, both versions continued to co-exist for many years; in the USA, the
so-called "standard" beetle was later dropped -- when was it guys, in the
1973 model year?

The front suspensions were quite different.
