Volks,

I just acquired an NOS Hella Fog Light Installation Kit, ostensibly for VW
Sedan from August 1967 on. Just right for my 1970, I tell myself. (Got it
from Wolfsburg Warehouse in Vancouver, WA, a strange mail-order operation.)

It's beautiful, has some great brackets that mount behind the bumper bolts,
a relay -- and a VW-looking dashboard knob with a nice graphic of a fog
light on the plastic illumination window.

Trouble is, the plastic window in the knob lights up *maroon*, not green.
I'd always thought that DIN required a *green* illuminated pilot light for
fog lights. The knob I was originally going to use -- with the 1966-67 type
black rubber head -- has a green window.

Does anybody know when German standards began requiring a green pilot light
for foglights? Was it after 1970 maybe? My new knob looks great with the
1970 dashboard -- matches the big round knobs with the serrations around
them -- but maroon??

Aargh.
