   Just sent out some pics from my Yahoo account to your pmail addy.

   Let us know what you think. Have a few questions:

Already removed the faceplate. Was planning to soak it in detergent water for a couple of hours and then give it a good clean followed by chromw polish. Thats how I usually clean chrome stuff picked at the junkyard. Helps to remove grime and most oxidation. Also helps to remove old paint/ overspray. Do you approve this or do I take some other option?

Will go on with dismantling the thing as and when you guide me through it for a good clean and inspection.

You will notice that one of the things, a thick washer like escucheon is missing from the LHS knob stub. I am assuming both sides had one?? Think Ill have to use my imagination fro substituting a similar similar piece here as it would be impossible to locate one at least locally.
