In the process of changing over to 35PDSIT carbs on a 1600DP engine,
I could not get the idle even up to 850 rpm. No adjustment of the
two idle screws helped.

Then I measured the compression on the 3/4 side and found values like 75/75.
Long ago, I had purchased the gauge set to do a leak-down test.
So a week after measuring 75 and 75, I did the leak down test.
I got leak-down less than 10%. This didn't seem to jibe with the low
compression, so I then rechecked the compression and found that the
value in cylinder #3 had gone up to 100 instead of 75.
These values are all too low and too different from each other, so
I'm probably going to pull the engine and redo the heads. (temp
outside today is 22F).
But if anyone has ideas on why the compression should change from day
to day, please pass them on.
Thanks,
jack
