HI Everyone, When I shift into reverse in my 72 VW beetle there is no resistance from the spring under the shifting rod, yet it is a new one I recently installed. What might the problem be?
About the flat spot problem talked about on here, I had a similar problem and found that the fuel cut off on the side of the carberator was not operating. I replaced it and the problem went away. One can check if it's working removing it from the carberator, but don't disconnect the distributor wire. Make sure it is grounded, turn the key on, but don't start it and have someone check to see if the rod moves.
