Why not make your own? I've got plans on my web site in the VW Files section. I've also made some internal to the radio using a voltage regulator good for up to 1.5 amps with only the regulator and a heat sink attached to the outside of the case.
You can make a decent solid-state version capable of high wattage with the addition of a power transistor.
