Check with your DMV/Secretary of state. In NY there is no such thing as a
three wheel car. All motorized vehicles with less than 4 wheels are registered
as motorcycles.
But our DVM is a fickle bunch, I registered a 3/4 ton pickup with passenger
plates, since I wasn't paid to haul things, but they made me register my Subaru
Brat as a commercial vehicle, since its a pu. Go figure.

At any rate, good luck, I once made a model of a VW front, motorcyle back
vehicle. And I thought that was tricky. Doing the real deal is beyond me.
