You can get a good rebuilt transmission from several shops down the road. 
Many shops will rebuild your stock unit if you want to keep it original to 
the car, and it'll probably run you nearly the same as a rebuilt using 
your old trans as a core.

My '66 has a Rancho box in it right now ('67 stock ratios with '66 axles). 
I haven't had a single problem with it since I installed in in early 
2005. The '63 will bery probably have a KCR race box in it, unless I win 
the lottery and can afford the mythical Berg 5 speed. :)
