It isn't really that difficult, unless you lack pictures. The swaybar is attached to the lower trailing arms, each with two bushings/clamps. The bushings have a hole in the middle designed to accept the swaybar, and a concave contour on one end designed to rest against the trailing arm. A flat steel U-shaped clamp wraps around each bushing but the ends don't overlap. Instead, they are designed to accept a tapered steel clip.
Installation requires that you pinch the ends of the clamp together using a pair of slip-joint pliers while you slide the clip over the clamp ends. The clamps should be installed so that you have to slide the clips *towards* the torsion leaves to install them. Getting them off usually requires a hammer & punch approach to drift the clips off of the clamp ends (ie: towards the steering knuckles), after first gently prying up a locking lug at one end of the clip. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: October 11, 2008 12:19 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [vintagvw] sway bar How do you detach the front sway bar on a Ghia?
