Guys,
I had asked this question before. Have a 59 bug which has had the engine
and gearbox changed by the PO. I believe both items are off a 67.
Some cutting has been done in the area beneath the rear seat to accomodate
the longer nose of the 67 gearbox. Experts here had suggested getting an early
split bus gear nose cone to swap for a better fit, something rare as hens teeth
here.
I saw a gearbox off a 62 bug at the local boneyard which has a very
different nosecone, something much flatter than what I see on mid sixties and
later 'boxes. The ID number is: 5116840.
Will the nosecone off this gearbox fit on the 59 chassis without its front
end jutting too far front??
