Sorry about the link.? So far I only used it to set camber after replacing struts on 2 Jettas.? After removing the front wheels but prior to removing any suspension bolts,? I would attach the level to the one side of a rotor, pointing straight up and down.? I usually put it towards the front where the lug studs go in as that is a good straight and reliable surface.? Record the reading somewhere and replace whatever is needed.? Be sure you make note of whether the reading on the level is up or down relative to 0.? There will be a small arrow on the digital level readout that tells you whether you need to come up or go down on the one side to get to level.? So if you record 1.6 degrees, make sure you know if it is 1.6 up or down.? There is a 3.2 degree difference if you are wrong...? After getting it all back together, I put the level back on the rotor in the same place, and by moving the strut in my case,? adjusted until the level showed the same reading as I had recorded earlier.? I then tightened everything back up.?
I am sure you can use this the same way for adjusting rear spring plates on Bug/Bus, etc, by first measuring the angle on the tunnel, then doing the math to give you what angle you should have on the spring plate.? The level is magnetic which helps it stay put.? The best part is it is easy to read and not prone to sticking in the wrong place like those swinging needle type angle protractors (Ask me how I know...) .Lastly, if need be, one could claim it is for a future home improvement project that perhaps a spouse is interested in having done in the future to get approval to buy yet one more really cool tool!! Your link didn't work for me unless I had an account. For those of us who don't, try this: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00948295000P How about some pictures on how to use it?
