I can definitely recommend the Nissan Altima. My family put almost 270k
miles on a 1996 before it was totaled by a woman on a cell phone. The
only major work done on it was to replace the engine mounts and CV
joints once. Not long before it was totaled, the compression was 155-160
on all cylinders.

Subject: [vintagvw] Car Buying Advice

This isn't VW related but this forum is such a great resource for
anything automotive I'd like to ask a question.

My wife's 2001 Chrysler 300M was totaled in an accident 10 days ago. She
was driving and is OK just bruised from airbag. She loved that car. It
115K but drove great and I maintained it well.

We are now having to find a pre-owned mid-size replacement.

We are mostly looking at the following
Toyota Camry
Nissan Altima
Hyundai Sonata-possibly Azera depending on price
Chevy Malibu
Buick LaCrosse

We are looking at 07-09 with maybe under 30K.

Just looking for the best value we can find as we were not planning to
buy another vehicle anytime soon. her 300M had a 3.5L V-6 but I'm not
sure we need a 6 for how she drives it and just for around town and the
occasional trip.

Any input anyone wants to make would be great especially from any of you
who own any of these. I'd be interested in likes/dislikes etc.

Thanks for allowing me to ask.
