Ooops forgot to say original was steel, not brass reproduction. Use a magnet
to check.

Subject: [vintagvw] Key question

Volks,

What was the correct key configuration for the ignition and door keys for
the 1970 Beetle?

I've found both the "offset round" shape and the "earlobe" shape for sale on
e-Bay, both purporting to be for VW Type 1 1967-1970. The originals for my
ignition and re-keyed door locks vanished long ago. I currently have two
keys -- one of each style. That can't be right. What came with the
factory-new cars?
