Volks,

When I put in my new headliner (a couple of years ago), I covered up the
screw holes for the assist strap brackets. Meanwhile I've fixed my straps
up and they look like new. But they're missing the screws.

But before I perform surgery I want to know what I'm looking for. Does
anybody know what size screws were required for mounting the assist
strap-coathook bracket on the 1970 beetle? I've located the holes by
probing carefully with pins, but want to know whether I need machine or
sheet-metal screws, and which size? I don't want to tear up my B pillars by
chewing away the screw holes.

Thanks,

Bert Knupp
