Glad the car was safe.... as far as flooding, been there done that with Katrina. It's no fun, just a fyi, take lots of pics of damage and stuff you have to get rid of, for insurance and tax purposes. Document everything.

Long-time listers have been watching this restoration of a '70 Mainz police VW since it got rolling back in 2001. Since we've been focusing on authenticity and accuracy, it's been an oddball challenge. I'm happy to report that the car was entered in last weekend's "Circle Yer Wagens 31" over in Sevierville, TN, and it was a great first-time outing. It was great to meet some fellow list members as you dropped by -- Jeff B., Mike B's friend Colin, and a couple of others whose names I didn't catch. The show isn't judged by category -- they just award a "Top 75" out of the 185 or so entries -- but the Polizeikäfer won the balloting for "Most Unique" and "People's Choice," too -- a real honor since there were some awesome cars there. They haven't posted any pictures yet. Arrived home to horrible flooding here in Nashville. Some areas look like post-Katrina New Orleans. I had 40" of water in basement and lots of loss, but we're safe and healthy. Others far less fortunate. Come help.
