Hey Guys, I'm back after a 8 year hiatus or so. Some of you may remember me back when I was living in Omaha. I'm glad to see some of the guys from the 90's still on here. Nice to see No Quarter is still at it :)
Thought I'd chime in and tell you about my project. Been doing water-cooled for the last several years and took 2 A2 Jettas to the Challenge in $2006 and $2009. Got tired of the water-cooled scene and missed the ACVW people/vibe. So, I sold all my watercooled parts and decided to build a ACVW for the $2011 Grassroots Motorsports Challenge. Not looking to win the whole enchilada but hope to go and bring some glory back to the ACVW. I think I can be competitive in the highest finishing classic and hope to hit the top 20 in the autocross and if I win nothing then it's a great time with a bunch of gearheads for a weekend. Specs: - '67 Ghia Coupe - DP 1600 w/ported heads, stock valves - Kadrons w/velocity stacks, Scat linkage - Engle 110 cam I bought from a guy on this list way back when. - Either 914 2 liter or Rivieras wheels w/Toyo Proxes rubber - Kirkey seats - Roll bar bolted in, harnesses - Skinned doors, hood, decklid, plexiglas rear windows - KYB Gas-A-Justs, swaybars, camber compensator - Stock trans, PP, 4 puck disc, poly mounts, maybe Kafer brace if time and budget allow if not then traction bar - Vinyl graphics(see hot wheel in album) over a roll on Rustoleum paint job, possible German Eagle on the hood ala 70's Trans Am - Bondo will be hot and heavy $500 in the car with enough stuff on it to sell off to negate the purchase prices. $300ish in the Kadron with all the right parts, $40 in wheels/Tires, $200 in parts store bits. Couple hundred on other Samba stuff. So far the budget is looking pretty good. I figured it was better to put this car back on the road as a race car than let it rust away in someones garage. Should be a fun car when I'm done.
