In my opinion John, I think the link is the best option to prevent accidently spread of viruses due to spamming. Once you let your guard down, the spammers are so prevalent, they will come crawling in the cracks much like a door left cracked open in the winter time invites mice.
Can you be particular with attachments and strip out any .exe files or anything? If not, I vote for the link so we can pick what attachments we care to put on our machines. I guess if it's an .exe, we can virus scan it before doing something with it.
