Your suggestions are excellent... yesw, I had synched to my old cellphone and did have a few that way (though not very recent). I don't use my ISP's (i.e., Comcast's) mail handler, but instead do everything using my MS Outlook. Meaning it's on my hard drive, not the server. But it actually might be stashed away someplace in ComcastCloud. I'll go hunting ...
