stock 85.5 pistons and a 74 stroke crank.no case/block machining and the
torque will be nice.

Subject: [vintagvw] Engine Build

NQ's discussion topic on engine building brings up an old question that I'm
sure has been answered many times but now that I'm looking at an engine
build, I want to ask it again.

I remember quite a number of years ago when there were a number of "recipes"
for engines depending on the desired outcome, performance or longevity and
those that strike a good balance.

My daughter's 1974 standard with its original 1600 DP and ?? miles is in
need of a rebuild. It spent most of its life in the Texas/Oklahoma area so
the body is in excellent shape and I want to put a fresh rebuild in it that
strikes that performance/longevity balance. I'd like to keep the PICT-34
carb with SVDA and CompuFire but possibly add some pep.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Nick Stokes
