Volks,
I don’t know how many of y’all have “necktie jobs,” but my “office uniform”
often includes a Volkswagen necktie. I have several, in different color
schemes. And if I wear a shirt-and-tie to church, the kids really love
Volkswagens.
I just noticed there’s a bunch of them up now on German eBay, and the prices
aren’t at all bad. Most are 100% silk. The best parts: nearly all of the
sellers sell “Weltweit” (worldwide), nearly all accept PayPal (and it’s a
really cheap way to pay bills in euros from the USA), and a couple of them
I’ve had good results with (one is called “Der Bus Shop” and they have lots
of neat stuff – not only Type 2s. I like them, but I’m sure others are
fine, too.).
Anyhow, to find a beetle necktie, go to www.ebay.de and search on “kaefer
krawatte” (that’s “beetle necktie”) and you’ll see lots of options and
sellers. Like I said, look for willingness to ship worldwide and accept
PayPal. The Euro is running about $1.30 just now, a pretty good rate.
My high-school German’s pretty good and I’ll gladly assist if you run into a
dispute, but honestly, I’ve only had one unfavorable experience in 11 years.
(And even then, the merchandise was fine – but the seller was a jerk.) Lots
of German sellers haven’t had experience selling to US or Canadian
customers, but once they try it, they find it’s zero hassle.
Just another way to broadcast our hobby.
Enjoy!
