I have purchased a low-pressure Mallory (rotary) fuel pump for my '74 Bus. The instructions say it should be mounted upright (vertically). This pump is pretty tall (6-8 inches) and will not fit on the frame underneath the fuel tank.
I considered bolting it to the back (engine) side of the storage space under my Z-bed, but this location is at about a 45 degree angle. I thought about fashioning some sort of angled block to go between pump and firewall, but that seems unwieldy. SO...to start up a controversy (no doubt), what about placing the pump on the engine side. Like, bolting it to the fuel tank cover? I have heard some vehemently oppose putting the pump IN the engine compartment. Why? Tim Osburn, Head Mechanic, Ralph Spoilsport Motors.
