Volks,

The 1970 models of most Volkswagens in the USA got non-glare dashboard and
steering-wheel fittings. Chrome trim rings and horn rings were replaced by
non-shiny argent silver starting with Aug. 1969 to comply with new FMVSS
rules.

Question: Die the European models of beetles and buses also get
matte-silver stuff, or only the USA models?

Most catalogs erroneously list chrome aftermarket horn rings as being for
1966-71 models, using the number 113 951 531 E CH. I'll assume the CH
indicates chrome-plated. But 1970-71 USA models are supposed to have argent,
not chrome. I am currently using a horn ring repainted with a DupliColor
silver spray but it's not wearing well.

Question: Does anybody know a source for matte-silver horn rings,
speedometer trim rings, horn buttons, etc.?
