Thats just the first step. After you've done that open pages and double tap
the add document button. Then double tap add from iTunes. Lastly, double
tap on the documents you wish to add from iTunes.

That's not how you do it. You have to use the file sharing functionality
of
iTunes. GO to your apps list, and there should be a list of apps that can
use file sharing. Pages should be one of them.

Make sure the file is in text, Word, or an Apple format. For some
reason, RTF files don't have the option of opening in Pages.

That's very strange. I use the dropbox app, and it doesn't give me
the option to export documents to pages anywhere. The export button
shows up as dimmed.
