My experience is that it only happens if you touch the screen immediately
after unlocking the screen. If you wait just a second, it will not do that.

This is a bug some of us are experiencing with iOS 5.1 and should be
reported to [email protected]. Unfortunately not all of us can
duplicate so it may be hard for Apple to fix. Sometimes on my iPhone 4
the emergency call button gets focused but fortunately not activated.
This is because I have a passcode lock set.
